Maroon 5 Concert Review
By: Sara Neighbors
On Wednesday, March 13, I saw Maroon 5 live in concert at the HP Pavilion. It was the first time I saw Maroon 5 in concert and I was really excited to hear them play some of my favorite songs like “Daylight” and “Misery.”
The HP Pavilion was the perfect size to fit over 15,000 of Maroon 5’s biggest fans in the Bay Area. With Owl City and Neon Trees opening, the night started off with high energy. Owl City wasn’t as impressive vocally, but Neon Trees had the crowd amazed by their dance moves. Then Maroon 5 finally took the stage and the crowd went crazy. The band was heard perfectly throughout the whole arena. Maroon 5’s set list couldn’t be more amazing. They started off with their summer hit “Payphone,” and, from there, went back and forth between their current hits and older hits.
I loved how they played “She Will Be Loved” with just the acoustics and had the audience sing half the song with harmonizing led by the lead singer, Adam Levine. The crowd really got into the show and almost everyone was out of their seats dancing and singing along to the music. I would definitely see Maroon 5 in concert again because I had a great time and it was an overall amazing show.

Don't You Worry Child- Swedish House Mafia ft. John Martin
By: Prashant Bala
People have fallen in love with the song " Don't you Worry Child" by Swedish House Mafia(SHM) and John Martin because of many different things. Dancers love this song for the beat and the music pumps you up.The victims are teenagers who love the song because of the voice and lyrics. Go on google and type "swe" and Swedish House Mafia come up. The U.S has sold over a million copies as of January. They were also number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Some people are asking who is Swedish House Mafia, Are they a new band, is this there first song, and what is the meaning of these lyrics?
Swedish House Mafia are 3 friends who are DJ's and work with electronic dance music. John Martin is the person who is singing the song. They are not a new band, they have been together since 2008, therefore this is not their first song, ironically it is their last song. The group announced on June 24, that they will not be a band anymore. This song was made while they were in Australia on their last tour. The lyrics are about this man who thinks about his past and how he met a girl and they broke up and his father is telling the son to not worry because Heaven has a plan for him. Some people could interpret as the band telling their fans to not worry about them not being a band anymore. It mentions him having memories and still remembering things in his past.
Next time you hear this song, relax and think of good memories from your past. Obviously if you are driving then do not think of a good memory and focus on the road. This is a song to relax and think or to get up and dance around to the wonderful beat.

Artists Who Should be Known by More People
Featuring: Reginald “Reggie” Watts
Background: Reggie Watts, born in March 23, 1972, is a comedian/musician. He was first exposed to music when he was five and was classically trained on piano and violin until he was 16. He later studied music and later jazz at Cornish College of the Arts.
Reggie Watts is a very interesting character and known for his performances that involve music with a hint of comedy and vice-versa. He uses a variety of instruments including beat boxing singing and the piano. He also is very well known for his improvisation. In fact almost all of his performances are improvised. In other words everything that he does onstage is completely made up on the spot. As you could imagine that takes a lot of talent and can be very difficult which is one of the reasons he deserves respect as a musician.
He is an amazing beat boxer as he demonstrates in the first video from 1:35-2:53. Now as I said earlier, he improvises pretty much all of his stuff. That’s hard in itself. It’s even harder to do so while making sense musically which he does perfectly.
In the next video it shows some of his comedy, which consists of spontaneous statements that don’t really make sense and are really random. Next when he does the songs and he starts out with a drumbeat. Loops it. Then adds a bass line. Loops it. Then adds a hi-hat and loops that. After he has a background, he begins singing over it. He has now created a song with nothing more than a mic and a recording device to loop it. All on the top of his head in front of a few thousand people. Now, that’s something!
So Reggie Watts is an interesting and talented musician that is definitely worth checking out.
